Flies

The common housefly, also known as Musca domestica, is an insect species widespread in domestic and agricultural environments. These flies are attracted to organic waste, excrement, and decaying matter, which makes them particularly common around food waste and areas where animals are present, such as stables. Although generally considered a nuisance, houseflies can also transmit diseases by carrying pathogens from one contaminated surface to another. Managing houseflies often involves rigorous hygiene practices, such as proper waste storage, regular cleaning of stables and food storage areas, as well as the use of traps and targeted insecticides. Biological methods, such as introducing natural predatory organisms or using entomopathogenic nematodes, are also used to control fly populations more sustainably. In the home environment, maintaining regular cleanliness and using window screens can help reduce the entry of flies into the house.
