Easily replace the bag of your pine processionary caterpillar trap without changing the entire system. This collection bag is quick to install and features an elegant, discreet design.
Essentials for you:
This replacement bag for pine processionary caterpillar traps allows you to replace only the collection bag without having to change the entire trap.
Installed at the end of the descent tube, it collects processionary caterpillars as they leave the tree and are guided around the trunk into the bag. The rest of the trap can therefore be kept and reused from one season to the next.
The bag is designed for our MaLutteBio pine processionary caterpillar trap. It may also be suitable for other traps on the market using a rectangular descent tube or chute of compatible dimensions.
Before installing it on another trap model, we recommend checking the dimensions of the chute and the attachment system.
Carefully remove the old bag, then position the new one around the descent tube. Secure it using the metal hooks fitted to your trap.
Then fill approximately one third of the bag with soil and pine needles or other plant debris found near the tree. The bag is then ready to collect the caterpillars guided down by the trap.
We recommend replacing the collection bag every year so that you start the new season with a clean collection system.
The descent period of pine processionary caterpillars varies according to the region and weather conditions. The bag should therefore remain in place throughout the activity period and be checked regularly.
Processionary caterpillars have urticating hairs that can cause skin reactions and irritation. Avoid direct contact with the caterpillars, the contents of the bag or any parts that may have come into contact with them.
When removing the bag, wear at least protective gloves and safety glasses and handle it carefully. Close the bag securely before moving it.
For disposal, follow the regulations applicable in your local area. If in doubt, contact your local authority or waste management service for guidance.
A mechanical processionary caterpillar trap is designed to be reused for several seasons. The collection bag is the part that needs to be renewed regularly.
Replacing only the processionary caterpillar collection bag allows you to keep the belt, descent tube and other components of the trap while preparing the system efficiently for the next season.
