How the tomato leafminer pheromone trap works

Water trap against the tomato leafminer. Works with a pheromone sold separately. The pheromone attracts the tomato leafminer, which drowns in the trap.

Trap designed for capturing Tuta absoluta (tomato leafminer). It is made up of 2 parts: a tray 5 cm high x 34 cm in diameter, with a capacity of 3.5 liters, and a small basket in which to place the pheromone dispenser.

Tuta absoluta, or tomato leafminer, mainly affects tomato. This moth also causes damage to potatoes and can use other solanaceous plants as host plants. The larvae bore into the fruits, leaves, or stems they feed on, creating holes and galleries.

RECOMMENDED USE:

In this wet trap, pour water into the tray. It is recommended to add a thin layer of oil on the water to increase catches.

The pheromone dispenser is inserted into the small basket, which is placed in the upper central part of the trap. Syringe-type dispensers are also possible.

Setup

  1. Place the tomato leafminer pheromone in the pheromone basket
  2. Place the basket in the trap
  3. Fill with water, it’s ready!

Installation in crops

Place 1 to 3 traps, spaced 5 meters apart for warehouses, and 1 to 2 traps per hectare for crops.
