The ladybird Adalia bipunctata adult is more resilient than the ladybird larva. Nevertheless, it devours fewer aphids. It is ideal for treating, for example, tall fruit trees. A few days after release, the adults will lay eggs (up to 20 eggs per day) near aphid colonies, which will effectively keep the biological control going.
Release the adults by placing the box close to the aphid hotspots to be treated. Adalia bipunctata is active at a temperature of 12°C, so it can be used early in the season, from March in open fields (and all year round in greenhouses).
A few recommendations before using ladybird larvae:
For shrubs, use the coccifly ladybird larva instead, which stays in place more easily than the adult ladybird.
Use 10 to 20 adults per tree.
