Vivapack® lacewing boxes contain insects called Chrysoperla carnea, predators of several pests. The lacewing is also called the “Golden-eyed Lady” and is naturally present in France. The lacewings are in the larval stage. This is the stage at which they are the most voracious and the most effective at controlling pests. After devouring up to 500 pests during their development, they will turn into adults that will lay their eggs and the cycle will start again. These larvae are packaged in a Vivapack ® box, an innovation exclusive to Biotop that serves both as a nest to allow them to arrive at the right stage, as a transport box, and also as an ideal system for releasing the lacewings with complete ease. Its use is quick and requires no tools. The boxes also contain a substrate that serves as hiding places, as well as food for the entire duration of transport.
Lacewing larvae in Vivapack® boxes are to be used when aphids, scale insects, or mites are present on plants. They can also be used preventively, even when no pests have been observed, because they are very polyphagous and can feed on other prey in the meantime. They are mainly used outdoors but can also be used indoors. Their action against pests is very effective on all types of plants, including vegetable and ornamental plants.
It is recommended to use the lacewing larvae immediately after purchasing the box. If this is not possible, the lacewings can be stored for 1 to 2 days maximum away from light, heat, and chemicals in a cool environment, such as the bottom of a refrigerator. Please note: during this time the lacewings may run out of food and eat each other, which will reduce their number in the box.
Lacewing larvae in a Vivapack® box are ready to use. No preparation is necessary, and they can be used directly after purchase.
Lacewing larvae in a Vivapack® box are used to protect shrubs and small plants. The Vivapack® box should be hung in the plants on a branch as close as possible to pest clusters. It is possible to move the Vivapack® box after a few hours, before all the lacewing larvae have emerged, to position it near another pest hotspot. It is recommended to place the Vivapack® box out of direct sunlight.
It is recommended to install preferably in the morning or late afternoon, protecting the blister from direct sunlight. The COCCIFLY® ladybird blister requires no preparation; it is ready to use. Immediately after purchasing the COCCIFLY® blister, proceed with their release. To do this, simply tear off the larva-release tab located on the back of the box. Then hang the blister by its hole on a stem or branch by passing it through the notch provided for this purpose at the top of the packaging.

Lacewings are a totally natural control method: they can therefore be used in Organic Farming (AB) in accordance with current European regulations. They leave no toxic residue on plants. Thus, plants can be consumed immediately after applying the lacewings. Since lacewings are insects, no insecticide should be used a few weeks before and a few weeks after releasing the lacewings, including organic or biocontrol insecticides. Likewise, it is recommended not to apply other plant protection products (fungicides, for example) a few weeks before and a few weeks after releasing the lacewings.

COCCIFLY® blister can be used from March to August, as long as average temperatures are 12/13°C. It is recommended to apply the ladybirds immediately as soon as the first aphid hotspots are observed, because these develop very quickly and can damage plants in just a few days. Application should only be done when aphids are clearly present. Otherwise, it is better to postpone the application.
