Phytoseiulus against red spider mites

Phytoseiulus is a predatory mite specific to red spider mites (two-spotted spider mite) and yellow mites, common pests in greenhouses, gardens, and on houseplants. Measuring less than 0.5 mm, red in color and pear-shaped, it consumes up to 5 adults and 20 eggs per day and reproduces twice as fast as its prey.

Characteristics

  • Targeted predator: red and yellow spider mites (mites)
  • Fast reproduction: 50 to 70 eggs laid in the heart of mite colonies
  • Specific: in the absence of prey, Phytoseiulus naturally dies off

Packaging

  • Container of 500 adults with integrated food
  • Store away from light, heat (> 15 °C), and plant protection products
  • Holding time before release: 24 h maximum

Application rate

  • 5 to 20 individuals per m²
  • Or 10 individuals per infested plant
  • Sprinkle directly onto the leaves and at the top of the plants
  • In case of high temperatures (> 30 °C), release in the shade

Directions for use

  • After release, leave the container open on a plant for a few hours
  • Lightly mist water before and after release to slow the spread of spider mites
  • Introduce at the first signs of infestation, preferably in the morning or in the evening
  • Do not use chemical products for 3 weeks before and after release

Precautions

  • Do not release in the absence of pests
  • Avoid extreme temperatures and chemical treatments close to the release
  • On tomatoes, beware of stem hairs that can hinder mobility
