Phytoseiulus against red spider mites
Phytoseiulus is a predatory mite specific to red spider mites (two-spotted spider mite) and yellow mites, common pests in greenhouses, gardens, and on houseplants. Measuring less than 0.5 mm, red in color and pear-shaped, it consumes up to 5 adults and 20 eggs per day and reproduces twice as fast as its prey.
Characteristics
- Targeted predator: red and yellow spider mites (mites)
- Fast reproduction: 50 to 70 eggs laid in the heart of mite colonies
- Specific: in the absence of prey, Phytoseiulus naturally dies off
Packaging
- Container of 500 adults with integrated food
- Store away from light, heat (> 15 °C), and plant protection products
- Holding time before release: 24 h maximum
Application rate
- 5 to 20 individuals per m²
- Or 10 individuals per infested plant
- Sprinkle directly onto the leaves and at the top of the plants
- In case of high temperatures (> 30 °C), release in the shade
Directions for use
- After release, leave the container open on a plant for a few hours
- Lightly mist water before and after release to slow the spread of spider mites
- Introduce at the first signs of infestation, preferably in the morning or in the evening
- Do not use chemical products for 3 weeks before and after release
Precautions
- Do not release in the absence of pests
- Avoid extreme temperatures and chemical treatments close to the release
- On tomatoes, beware of stem hairs that can hinder mobility
