This nest box reproduces the shape and appearance of the nests usually built by the Barn Swallow, made of clay. The swallow often reuses nests from one year to the next, which will make it a prime shelter for raising chicks. The swallow returns from Africa around the end of March to nest.
The Barn Swallow nests in 2 to 3 broods: from May to June. It lays 3 to 6 brownish-red speckled eggs; they hatch in 15 days. The chicks leave the nest between 17 and 24 days.
