Made in Europe from 15 mm thick wood and protected with an eco-friendly water-based wood stain, it offers a long-lasting refuge, maintenance-free and ready to install 🐦🌿
Unlike tits, the robin, the redstart and the flycatcher prefer open or semi-open nest boxes. In the wild, they often nest in recesses, walls, woodpiles, ivy, or old buildings. This type of nest box faithfully recreates those natural conditions, increasing the chances of occupancy in your garden.
These species can sometimes be harder to attract, but when a calm, well-chosen location is respected, this type of nest box can be quickly adopted.
This nest box is made from 15 mm thick wood, providing good protection against cold, heat, and climate variations. The wood is treated with an eco-friendly water-based wood stain, safe for birds, allowing long-term use without any special maintenance.
The galvanized steel roof effectively protects the nest box from rain and extends its lifespan, even when left outdoors all year round.
For the robin:
Place the nest box in a sheltered and quiet spot, close to the ground or at a moderate height (maximum 1.5 m), among shrubs, climbing plants, or against a green wall. The location should be semi-shaded, sheltered from direct sun and rain.
For the redstart and the flycatcher:
Hang the nest box on a tree or a wall, between 1 and 5 m high, in a quiet and slightly shaded place. A north-east orientation is ideal. Make sure to leave a clear space in front of the opening to make take-off easier.
To limit the risk of predation (magpies, cats, martens), it is recommended to protect access by surrounding the nest box with a discreet wire mesh (mesh size about 5 x 5 cm) or metal wires, without obstructing the entrance.
During the breeding season, this nest box serves as a nesting site. In winter, it is often used as a shelter from cold and bad weather by garden birds. It thus supports their survival throughout the year.
This nest box is maintenance-free on a day-to-day basis. A simple cleaning is recommended in autumn:
Avoid any chemical products or insecticides inside the nest box.
This nest box is ideal if you want to welcome more discreet species and observe natural behaviour different from that of tits. A great tool to enrich local biodiversity and make your garden more vibrant, season after season 🌿🐦
